Hello all.

This is a paper I put together last Fall (2021) for a customer (a DoD agency, that is all [no more]) so they could make their decisions in a more proficient manner. But…. I neglected to share it with anyone who might like to have this. The paper centers primarily on AWS but the principles for Azure and Google and IBM and the others are very, very, very similar for any type of comparison.

Generalities — Note: This paper is meant to be generic. It is not specifically aimed at a particular agency or a specific cloud provider but an overarching look at the promises and benefits of being in the cloud vs what could be; less efficient and painful costs of maintaining a Data Center (D.C.)

The downloadable document has data that was current, late 2021 but is not too far off from what the numbers are today. Take a gander at it when you have time.

It is 24 pages long, written in a non-boring (or stultifying) style, meant to be an easy quick read with graphs and numbers that could be useful for the CEO to the Cloud Engineers and executives/managers/supervisors in between.

It also talks about the expense of downtime (some of us have been down that road, painfully); the various tangible and intangible costs of running a D.C. or running in the Cloud. As well as CapEx and OpEx….
